There are no strings attached to the $500 payments, so recipients can use the money however they wish.
June 1 marked the beginning of the application period for the program.
Monthly direct payments ELIGIBILITY
It is required that eligible recipients be 18 years of age or older, make less than 250 percent of the federal poverty level, and have at least one child under 21 years of age living with them.
For a household of two to qualify, the annual income must not exceed $41,198.
Payments will be made on a rolling basis after an application has been received and approved.
All households that meet the criteria will be approved by Rise Up Cambridge.
Applicants have until August 1 to submit their applications, so there is not much more time to do so.

In addition, people who qualify for a large class action settlement do not have much more time to file a claim.
